Scientist, Protein Production

Employment Status: Full-Time

BioAce Health Therapeutics, Inc., is a privately held, clinical stage biotechnology company focused on discovering and developing peptide-based therapeutics for major unmet medical needs, particularly high mortality cancers. With platform-based discovery of peptide therapeutics that disrupt protein-protein interactions, Sapience's molecules hold potential to target intracellular interactions that are traditionally considered "undruggable targets”. We are developing next generation peptide therapeutic candidates called Spears logo™  (Stabilized Peptides Engineered Against Regulation). SPEARs drug transcription factors and regulatory pathways of disease that make cells cancerous or dampen the immune system against tumors. Our lead compound, ST101, is a first-in-class molecule with potential applications in various solid tumors and hematologic malignancies

The position:

We are seeking a Scientist who will be responsible for recombinant protein production and purification.  Further responsibilities will include development and execution of biochemical assays to characterize peptide therapeutics that target oncology and immuno-oncology drug targets.  The successful candidate will be an accomplished scientist who is capable of working independently in the design, optimization, and execution of protein production protocols and assay development.  Experience working with multiple expression organisms (bacteria, baculovirus, mammalian, etc) is a bonus.

Key Responsibilities:

The Scientist will be responsible for all aspects of recombinant protein production, included but not limited to cloning expression vectors, expressing the proteins in the appropriate organism, purifying the recombinant protein, and characterizing it as appropriate.  The Scientist will also contribute to the development of target engagement assays, including fluorescent polarization and ELISA based assays.

Key Requirements:

A PhD in Biochemistry, Biology, or a related discipline is required.  Experience with bacterial and eukaryotic expression systems, plasmid constructs, and protein purification is required. Experience running biochemical assays is preferred. The candidate is expected to be an excellent communicator and thinker and be able to work independently to design and troubleshoot experiments. She/he must have strong interpersonal skills, motivated to find solutions to though challenges, and thrive in high functioning team and fast-paced environment.

Salary and Title: Commensurate with experience.
